Welcome to the Singers Space Studio!

I love teaching singing. Every voice is unique, and I find the process of discovering how each singer learns and develops endlessly fascinating.

Many adults arrive for their first lesson wondering whether they are "good enough" to sing. In truth, it is not important how a singer sounds when they first walk through the door. What matters is how they leave. My role is to help each singer take the next step, whether that is building confidence, improving technique, preparing for an audition, learning a special song, or simply enjoying the experience of singing.

Some adults prefer private lessons, while others thrive in a group environment. Neither is better; they simply serve different needs. Together we can find the approach that best supports your goals, learning style, and stage of development.

Private Lessons

Private Lessons

Private lessons are for those who:

  • Have always wanted to sing

  • Wondered if they are ready for a studio group

  • Have never sung before and wondered what there is to learn

  • Want to audition for Conservatorium, University, a Musical or choir

  • Need help with a special event

  • Wish to learn a particular song

  • Interested in vocal technique, musicality and artistry

  • Currently singing in a studio group but would like to work on specific material

Group Work

Long term groups are available on a weekly basis. The groups are small for singers who are working at a similar pace. Singing in a group is a great way to develop confidence, build friendships and take some pressure off performing. Most of the groups require solo singing as well as back-up and harmonising. Singers in current groups started in introductory groups or private lessons.

Teaching Philosophy

Singing has been a big part of my life. While I always knew I would sing, I also knew I would teach. What I didn't know was what form that teaching would take. I would never have predicted that adult beginners would become the primary focus of my studio.

I didn't seek this path out—it simply found me, and what a gift it has been. Every singer who has passed through my studio, whether for a few weeks or many years, has left a lasting impression on me. They are all wonderful.

Yes, I believe everybody can sing. What a pity that so many of us have to learn how when singing came so naturally to us as children. Perhaps that is why such powerful voices emerge when they have been silent for so long. It is a privilege to witness and support that process in singers from all walks of life.

There is something deeply rewarding about singing from the heart, but singers also need the body awareness, breath coordination and technical foundation to support genuine expression. Voice training is a sensitive and often transformative process. There are many joyful moments, along with some that can feel challenging. Both are valuable.

Over the years I have worked with all kinds of singers—professional and amateur, experienced and beginner, young and mature. Some have been confident, others timid. Some have arrived with physical challenges, while others have simply wanted to explore their voices. There are times when singers sound wonderful and times when they do not. This is exactly as it should be. Growth rarely happens without a willingness to sound ordinary for a while. Mistakes are not only acceptable; they are essential.

Whether singers choose private lessons or group learning is an individual decision. Whatever the format, each singer's personal development remains the priority of my studio. It is of no concern to me how a singer arrives. What matters is how they leave.

My commitment is to honour each singer's journey—sometimes with gentleness, sometimes with challenge, and always with respect. My studio is a happy place because I genuinely love what I do, and I remain fascinated by every voice that walks through the door.
